FT Nights Position

The Monitor Tech views patient monitors on a continual basis and informs nursing staff of any significant changes in activity immediately; accesses assistance in responding to noted changes in patients and others exhibiting signs of a heart attack, stroke or respiratory distress. Serves as a backup coverage for the PBX system in the absence of a PBX Operator on duty, answering main hospital line and directing both outside and internal calls appropriately. Utilizes overhead paging system as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities:

Requires basic understanding of dysrythmias. Mastery of the English language and requires knowledge, ability, and judgment to:
1. Make critical rhythm interpretations
2. Communicate rhythm changes to staff nurse or charge nurse.
3. Numerical ability to make simple arithmetic calculations
4. Apply basic understanding of the function and inter-relationship of each hospital department.
5. Organize and complete work assigned
6. Anticipate the needs of physicians, nurses and other hospital departments
7. Communicate the needs of patient, families and visitors in a professional and timely manner recognizing life threatening signs and symptoms of heart attack, stroke and respiratory distress.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous EKG training preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Healthcare provider issued by the American Heart Association CPR card required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital care setting is desirable.
  • Medical terminology is preferred.
